The Pegasus Awards recognize and honor the music of fandom. I was aware of the awards when I first started performing at conventions in 2010, but mostly thought that getting on their radar would take some time. I guess that two years = time.
Some incredibly intelligent and tasteful soul (not me) placed my name on the official list of potential nominees in three categories: Best Performer, Best Filk Song (3 songs! Sleepy Little Creepy Little Town, Pirate Song, & Welcome to the Age of Steam), and Best Writer/Composer. Holy ghost! I've been thinking about it quite a bit over the last week and I've decided that I really, really want to be a finalist in Best Performer. Truthfully, it's not about winning. I feel as though being one of the final-5 nominies on the ballot would be huge.
Almost 3/4 of the folks on this email list signed up after seeing me perform. I am proud of the music I've written and the songs I've recorded, but truthfully, I work hardest on my live show, and while I certainly wouldn't turn down a nomination for something else, if you only place my name in one category, I encourage you to choose Best Performer.
So here's what we'll do. If I make the final five, I will release free 5 song EP. Unreleased demos, live recordings, and maybe another surprise. You can help me out by linking to the ballot on Facebook, Twitter, and your blog. Seriously, these songs are cool. You want them. I want you to have them. Cast a ballot.
"But Jonah, am I even allowed to vote?"  Yes. From the Pegasus ballot "We strongly encourage you to copy & distribute this ballot as widely as possible within the filk community. You do not need to be a member of the convention to vote."

Wait! There are six categories and five votes in each! Who else should I vote for?
Well, I don't want to tell you what to do (Best Performer), but I will tell you some of the people I am voting for. These are people that I've met, watched, played with, and now think that they deserve some recognition.
